The event is geared at helping you develop a successful career in the fast-changing travel, tech and startup industry.
Dr. Sarah Whyte – a consultant, trainer and coach (profile below) – will share her expertise in the field of emotional intelligence and how it can be used to positively impact your career. She will highlight particular techniques and strategies that you can easily practice and adopt to benefit your life both inside and out of work!
Similarly to our last event, we will be hosting the ELEMENT PITCH competition where YOU will get ONE MINUTE to pitch the one, unique element that will help you stand out in your career. The winner stands to win a prize!
Why Emotional Intelligence?
It's a fair question to ask.
No matter what industry you're in, research shows that higher EQ is more important than both IQ and experience when it comes to finding success in your career, according to Egon Zehnder International.
The ability to understand and manage your own emotions as well as other people's emotions is regarded as a key leadership quality. High EQ has also been associated with stress management, the ability to inspire others and more effectively overcome obstacles.
Fortunately, our EQ levels aren't set in stone and there are techniques we can use to make us better communicators, leaders and people!
Who is it for?
In an industry as personal as travel, being able to connect with and appeal to someone on an emotional level no matter where they are in the world, is incredibly important. The power of the 'personal touch' involves being able to engage with people on both a mass and an individual level.
With everything going digital, having a conversation isn't quite what it used to be. We have so many new ways to communicate with the growth of social media. Yet, as the world goes online, knowing how to understand and interact with others both online and offline is more important than ever.
But emotional intelligence isn't just reserved for those in hospitality. Whether you're a startup founder learning how to be an effective leader or you are just entering the workforce, understanding the power of emotional intelligence is crucial to developing a fulfilling career... from the interview stages right through to interacting with your client base.
